Castle Von Frandsen is a “real” castle under construction on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho. The castle and the Frandsen Forrest are available for filming purposes and private events. It has been the site for a couple of minor films and and the History Channel has already done a program on the build. THC funded a portion of the costs of the 45' bell tower up the mountain.
The approximately 8,000 sf of interior space is in vanilla shell state. This does not include the flat deck portions of the roof areas referred to as the widow's walk or the top outside viewing area of the Norman tower. It has granite walls both exterior and interior. Ceilings are beamed from timbers hewn from the Frandsen Forrest and stone fireplaces are on multiple levels. The bell tower has a circular stairway to the viewing level. The site has 680+ feet of Lake Pend Oreille shore front, mostly cliff side and 552' of stone battlement walls. A deep water dock and slips will easily handle the largest vessels. The eagles make the castle forest trees home. The owner is asking market rates per week but will consider offsets for agreed upon improvements.
