Historic, beautiful &unique Barn from 1810 in Ashton-Sandy Spring, Maryland. Located in an urban farm in a residential suburb with a history that dates back to the early 1700’s when it was settled by Quakers from England. The barn was renovated in 1883 and more recently in 2015 by the current owner.

The 4,800 ft² of space in the barn is perfect for runway shows, photography shoots, video shoots, music videos, and more. Featuring large panoramic south facing windows, our open space features exquisite daylight capabilities. Large interior spaces and high ceiling are very flexible and customizable to your production needs, and can be transformed into a beautiful production location/staging area.

The location of the barn provides wide open views of the building from the south, west and north-west. The building has been used before in filming a few documentaries, and in a short film (thriller) set in a post-apocalyptic world.

The farm next to the barn is active, producing a variety of organic and tasty vegetables and fresh produce. The farm can also be used in your production if needed, please contact us for more information and arrangements.

BARN FEATURES:

• Building: L 60 ft x W 40 ft x H 45
• Ceiling hight: 45 ft at center; 25 ft in the northern and southern edges.

The barn has three levels, providing a total of 4800 sq ft of floor space.

A) Ground floor: open area (with supporting columns). Floor 70% concrete 30% dirt.

B) First floor: separated into 4 general sections:
• Mid section: 40’ x 16’
• East section: 40’ x 20’
• South-west section: 22’ x 20’
• North-west section: 18’ x 20’ (divided into 4 chambers)

C) Mezzanine level: 40’ x 20’ – elevation from first floor 11’ – accessed by ladder.

The barn has many windows in all directions, and a set of panoramic windows facing south. This provides the interior with adequate light during daytime. Please refer to pictures on profile.

ACCESS:
The barn is located off New Hampshire Ave (MD Route 650), and very easy to access. It is just 16 miles north of downtown Washington DC, and in close proximity to major towns of Rockville and Silver Spring.

NEARBY:
CVS, 7-Eleven, Sandy Spring Bank, Exxon gas station, and several shops and restaurants are within walking distance of the barn. New Hampshire Ave that runs next to the barn has a high concentration of Churches and other places of worship, some within walking distance. A few minutes drive would take you to Olney Village Center’s large shopping area that includes Safeway, Giant, Harris Teeter, 24-Hour CVS, as well as many banks, shops, cafes, restaurants and gas stations.

CONVENIENCE:
• Ample parking space for up to 20 cars.
• Direct access to ground floor for load-in/load-out
• Direct access to first floor for load-in/load-out through northern ramp; large enough for trucks.
• Generator and noisy equipment can work throughout the day till nightfall.

CONNECTIVITY:
• Cellular reception (LTE) in the area is excellent; covered by local cell tower.
• Wifi connection can be arranged per request.

TOTAL AREA:
3200 sq ft (including mezzanine level)

HOUSE RULES:

No cigarettes, no smoking and no fire inside the building. Flammable materials pose risks to the historic wooden structure of the barn.

Generators can be used outside of the structure for electricity. Owner is open to selling metered electricity. Please bring your own exterior extension cable (100 ft or more).

The barn and the farm are located in a suburban residential area. Please be considerate of the neighborhood with regard to traffic and overall noise. No excessively loud noise after nightfall.

No dumping of trash inside or outside the barn, on the farm or the driveway.

Visiting the active farm next the barn, or including the farm in your production work is possible with prior arrangement, and may be supervised by the farm manager. The farm is protected by electric fence and may pose a hazard. Please coordinate any visits, no random walk-ins through

This is a historic barn, built in 1810, renovated in 1883 and again in 2015. The barn has its original vibes and looks absolutely gorgeous both inside and out.

Such barns are exceedingly rare in Washington DC metro area.

The adjacent farm can complement the barn, depending on your filming or photography needs.
Parking is only permitted around the barn building. No parking on the main driveway, since it is partially shared by neighbors.

There is enough parking space for 25 cars.

Public transport: the Z2 bus line connected the neighborhood to Silver Spring Station
