The Old School Baptist Meeting House in Warwick, New York is owned by The Historical Society of the Town of Warwick who rents it for special occasions and events. There is a small vestibule with a split staircase leading up to the balcony and belltower, but the sanctuary takes up a majority of the total 2,925 square feet. It was built in 1810 and to this day is still the site of many life events for the village.
As The Historical Society owns this building, shooting times are extremely flexible. Though there are many restrictions because of the historic nature of the building, rates are very flexible as well.
The steeple with working bell tower is 95 feet tall. With a total of 11 windows, some with as many as 99 panes, there is no shortage of natural light during the day.
The Meeting House still has some of its original pews, foot benches, box door and carpet matching the original light green floor covering.
The most prominent feature is the "wine glass" pulpit with backerboard above to improve the speaker's voice.
Though there is a balcony, use of it would have to be negotiated as the floors are aging and not stable in some sections.
In 1996 the film In & Out shot the famous wedding ceremony scene between Kevin Klein and Joan Cusack was shot in The Meeting House.
Unfortunately, there are no bathrooms or kitchen so production would have to provide. But we own a large park surrounding The Meeting House and tenting is allowed. We also own a larger facility that could be used as base camp for production.
